Your garlic cloves look grogeous, fat and beautiful. I grow mostly hardnecks around here but its so true - so adaptable they are amazing. Leek moth attacted the scapes this year so I didn't leave any to 'bulb.' Do you have a problem with that?

Also, good reminder about diseases. Just because you get it one year, doesn't mean that conditions will be ripe for the following. Same goes for pests.Ottawa Gardenerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14486499450332482461noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23047857.post-40634529994589450762008-11-28T22:07:00.000+00:002008-11-28T22:07:00.000+00:00Beautiful photos!Beautiful photos!Sortiariumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12800214645773561097noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23047857.post-60404332454498705492008-11-28T11:55:00.000+00:002008-11-28T11:55:00.000+00:00Rebsie, in this month's edition of The Garden ther...Rebsie, in this month's edition of The Garden there is a report that Colin Boswell of The Garlic Farm was in Kazakhstan searching for Alluim tuncelianum "the only garlic to produce viable seed".
JohnAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23047857.post-86951498762746362742008-11-26T10:51:00.000+00:002008-11-26T10:51:00.000+00:00I've never really got the hang of garlic. I wish I had the knack - we eat pounds of it!Kathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12841961223771293021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23047857.post-74195871146761665422008-11-25T23:57:00.000+00:002008-11-25T23:57:00.000+00:00Thanks for this post Rebsie, I have yet to take my...Thanks for this post Rebsie, I have yet to take my hand at garlic growing but through you inspirational post I think now I will have to find the time and a place to plant several varieties next fall. Garlic isn't a big seller around here but we most certainly use a lot of it here at the house, knowing folks on the Homegrown Goodness messageboard makes selection and learning much easier when it comes to crops I'm unfamiliar with so your post is much appreciated friend!Bishops Homegrownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16530035650083339042noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23047857.post-75396064528438439762008-11-25T22:07:00.000+00:002008-11-25T22:07:00.000+00:00The Ail Rose de Lautrec (or Cheltenham) is known e...The Ail Rose de Lautrec (or Cheltenham) is known especially for its keeping qualities - it will keep well for a year, unlike some varieties which have to be eaten sooner. You're lucky to have the space to grow so many varieties. We're a bit spoilt here as we can buy such good garlic in the village market that it doesn't seem worth using a lot of space in the garden to grow it. I have planted some bulbs which I bought in the market, though.chaiselonguehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11372135992072231446noreply@blogger.com
